And an honorable mention

September 10th, 2009

I posted last week about my third place in the music section of The international Photo Awards, but I should have pointed I got an Honorable Mention in the Editorial Personality section (there are a lot of categories...on the other hand, there are a lot of entries too so just to make it into anything is pretty good I reckon).....

You can check out that gallery at

I'm in REALLY good company so I feel really honored, more so than the third place I got in the music section (see previous entry)

I have posted this picture before, but since taking this portrait I have managed to read the book he wrote, The Shadow of the Wind.

And it was really good. A love letter to the world of literature, as my journalist friend Helen (who did the interview) wrote. Highly recommended.

Carlos Ruiz Zafon

May 31st, 2009

Carloz Ruiz Zavon is the author of The Shadow of the Wind and The Angel's Game. Shot on Malibu Pier for The Sydney Morning Herald...I was very lucky with the weather since photographing a gothic novelist in blazing sunshine would not be ideal. Thank god for the marine layer.....this was a labour of love for Helen Pitt, the writer who waited months to get this interview. It was on, it was off, she was going to fly to Barcelona to do it at one point (which would have been unfortunate for me). Now can someone assign me Umberto Eco please?
