Last year back in Sydney I was sitting in the Bayswater Brasserie enjoying a beverage when my friend Ross Wallace pops in and shows me a picture on his iphone. Whats that? I say. Its a guitar boat, he says. Designed it for a music video tomorrow. What time and where? I ask. So me and my camera wandered down at dawn.....

Lots of people think its photoshop. Its real...check out the tape all over the motor to hide the outboard brand!

Johnny Carter's been training young swimmers at Sydney's Palm Beach for over fifty years. To see him work is to see another era in action. All the boys get called Jimmy and all the girls Maggie, no matter what their real names are. There is no political correctness here, but the kids seem to love it. These were shot in January 2008 at my friend Ruth's suggestion, since her son William was one of the kids in these pictures.

In San Francisco last week I had five minutes with Dr Alan Trounson of The California Institute of Regenerative Medicine. He's another Australian, the father of IVF in my country and thus a number of my friends owe their children to him....I think. No one tells me who had what or did what but I have my suspicions....anyway, a very quick picture. Lit with my little Canon 550's. Canon sure make better cameras (just my opinion) than Nikon but Nikon have much better strobes. Getting those little Canon buggers to sync up and fire the way I want is HARD.
